Artymata:
"Error Cost Me Qualifying Standard"
NICOSIA,
6 June 2009 -
There
were mixed emotions for Cypriot runner Eleni Artymata
after the first two races on Saturday after just missing
out on qualification for the August World Championship
Games in Berlin despite taking three golds at the Games
of the Small States of Europe.
"To be
honest, I expected to pass the standard qualifying time
in the 200m race and then in the 100m race. I started
off slow in the first sixty metres, something which was
a mistake and it cost me in the end," said the
23-year-old Cypriot athlete who will turn her attention
to qualifying at the upcoming Cypriot Games between June
13-14.
"It was
a bit windy today but that didn’t affect me when I came
in at 23.34. It was my mistake," who will also take part
in the Bruno Zauli Cup and the Mediterranean Games in
Pescara.
