The Monegasque pair of Jean-Rene Lisnard
and Guillaume Couillard where the big favorites to win
the gold medal in tennis double’s men long before the
XIII Games of the Small States of Europe even started.
The pair from Monaco confirmed the odds after easily
beat with 2-0 set (6-1, 6-2) Domenico Vicini and Stefano
Galvani from San Marino who had to settle with the
silver medal.
The Monaco pair took less than an hour to
overcome the challenge from San Marino and only lost
three games in the entire match.
Jean-Rene Lisnard (No1 of the table and
No220 in the world rankings) will challenge on day 6 of
the Games his second gold in the GSSE since he will be
competing in the men’s singles final.
The bronze medal of the men’s double was
shared by the pair from Andorra Jean Baptiste Poux
Gautier and Jorge Vila Vila and the two Icelander
athletes Arnar Sigurdsson and Birkir Gunnarsson.
The medals were presented by the member
of the technical committee of the GSSE Santi David.
