Tomassoni
Shoots His Way To Gold
NICOSIA, 5 June 2009
- San Marino shooter Alfio Tomassoni was the big winner
in the men's trap event on Friday as he sealed the gold
medal in the last shooting game of the XIII Games of the
Small States of Europe.
Tomassoni scored 120/125 before then going on to hit
17/25 attempts in the final stage to take first place
and the gold medal.
The
battle for second place was also intriguing as Malta’s
Nazzareno Attard and Xavier Boucourt were locked with
the same score at 135/50 before the Maltese shooter
prevailed in the shoot-off event.
There
was also a tie for fourth place (133/150) with another
shoot-off needing to settle the bout between San
Marino’s Francesco Amici and Cyprus’ Phidias Savvides.
The Sammarinese athlete went on to take fourth spot
against home favourite Savvides.
