Going Straight For Gold

- The Cypriot national basketball team is on the road to
the gold medal at the XIII Games of the Small States of
Europe. Christos Stylianides' squad bean San Marino
83-56 and is the only unbeatable team in the tournament,
after Andorra’s defeat to Iceland on Thursday.
Iceland, Luxemburg and Andorra will battle with the
remaining two medals, silver and bronze.
The
Cypriot team scored more than 80 points and at the same
time kept the deficit low, under 60 points. But at the
beginning of the game, San Marino gave a hard time to
Cyprus and half way through the second period where
close to the hosts.
The
Cypriot coach rested Aris Koronides and Jo Jo Garcia,
but that wasn’t enough to give the edge to San Marino.
After
building a +20 lead in the third period, Cyprus
continued to secure the valuable win.
