Carol
Walsh: No Limitations For Veteran Runner

Malta's long distance runner Carol Walsh showed no signs
of aging at the XIII Games of the Small States of Europe
as the 47-year-old finished at a remarkable third in the
10,000m to pick up the bronze medal.
It was a breathtaking achievement for the
aging runner, who was born 24 October 1963, who picked
up her 12th medal in her ninth appearance at the Games.
Walsh’s
success was the highlight of the Malta Independent’s
edition in which the daily newspaper ran a story saying
“Carol Walsh was a hero in the athletics squad”.
Speaking to the paper, Walsh said, “Considering the
limitations I had to contend with for my training, I
must say I am very satisfied with this bronze medal.
It was a tight race with the first three bunched
together right from the start."
Walsh went to say that retirement was far
from her mind and that a 49-year-old Carol Walsh could
very well be seen running for Malta at Liechtenstein
2011.
