Cyprus
Closes In On The Gold
NICOSIA, 3 June 2009 - The Cyprus Men’s
Basketball Team showed their intent on Wednesday night
after steamrolling competition rivals Iceland 87-54 in
their second game.
Christos Stylianides’ side are currently level on points
at the stop of the standings with Andorra but the hosts
superior victories over Luxembourg and Iceland – both
considered to be Cyprus’ main rivals in the event –
showed that there will be little to stop them in this
year’s competition.
Playing excellent defence, Cyprus took the game to
Iceland early on and never looked back.
