Top Form On The Beach

- The Cyprus National Beach Volley teams were in top
form in their second day at the XIII Games of the Small
States of Europe.
In Wednesday
afternoon's match George Platritis and Paris Christofi
beat the hot favorites Tabarini brothers of San Marino
2-0.
The Cyprus team thus
secured three wins in the group stages of the
competition.
They won first place
in the pool and will take on Monaco in the semifinals
(16:30). During the semifinals on Thursday June 4 at
18:00 Andorra will compete against San Marino. The
Andorra team came first in the second pool.
Platritis and
Christofi seemed passionate and determined to win during
the game against San Marino.
After a fierce match
the Cypriot team ended up winning 21-19. The Cypriot
athletes also won the second set with 21-13. The match
lasted 36 minutes.
Manolina Konstantinou
and Mariotta Aggelopoulou of the Cyprus National women’s
team carried on their winning streak through the
tournament. During Wednesdays second match they beat
Bettina Mahr and Petra Walser of the Lichtensteins
women’s team 2-0 (21-15, 21-12) in 33 minutes.
They are now at the
head of the pool as they are the only team to have only
secured wins.
During Wednesdays’ match against Monaco
(at 18:30) the team hopes to once again be victorious.
