Silver For
San Marino In Table Tennis
NICOSIA, 3 June 2009 - San
Marino celebrated the silver medal on Wednesday
afternoon in the Table Tennis Women’s Team Event.
The Sammarinese athletes,
who had also finished second at the Monaco 2007 Games of
the Small States of Europe, defeated Cyprus in the
deciding fourth game leaving the hosts to settle for
third place and bronze medal.
The silver medal for San
Marino is the nation’s first at the XIII GSSE. The gold
medal was secured by Luxembourg on earlier in the day
after they steamrolled all their opponents to win the
event with four consecutive victories.
Fourth
place was sealed by Monaco who beat Iceland 3-0.
