NICOSIA, 3 June 2009 -
The San Marino shooting athletes are the
hot favourites to pick up the most gold medals in the
men and women’s trap event which will take place on
Thursday at the Olympic Shooting Range in Latsia.
The range will also feature the air
pistol event for the men and women shooting athletes and
are expected to finish on the same day with the finals
set to take place in the afternoon.
In the men’s trap event, the contenders
will fire their first 75 shots with the games set to
continue the following day. San Marino’s Alfio Tomassoni
and Francesco Amicci are tipped to take first place
whilst things are also looking good for the
Apennine Mountain contenders in the
women’s event with Daniela Del Din expected to pose as
the biggest challenge for the gold medal.
Cyprus’ challenges are expected to come
from Neoklis Charalampous and Soteris Constantinou
(Men’s Air Pistol), Irene Panteli and Constantina Pratsi
(Women’s Air Pistol), Phidias Savvides and Leontios
Leontiou (Men’s Trap) and Georgia Konstantinidou and
Elli Filippou (Women’s Trap).
