NICOSIA, 2 June
2009
-
Andorra and Iceland’s men’s
volley ball teams took off to a great start in the XIII
Games of the Small States of Europe.
Andorra, playing
decisively, made very few errors against Luxembourg and
prevailed with a 3-0 set. Using their top players Altayo,
Jardim and Borrego the team was able to make a comeback
at a crucial point during the game and claim fist place
in the tournament. The set: 25-22, 25-21, 25-23.
The most exciting game of
the first day of the tournaments was undoubtedly Iceland
competing against San Marino. San Marino started off
well and held their ground taking advantage of a few
mistakes that their opponents made and preceded the
score with a 2-0 set. Iceland however were far from
beaten and turned the tables around by winning the game.
The sets: 15:25, 25-27, 25-11, 25-23, 15-11.
