Five countries each claimed
a gold medal during the first day of judo in the XIII
Games of the Small States of Europe.
Cyprus, Monaco and Iceland
secured gold medals in men’s judo, while Luxembourg and
Andorra both claimed gold medals in women’s judo.
All teams competed in the
‘Lefkotheon’ indoor hall in Nicosia.
Neoclis Skouroumounis
claimed a gold medal for Cyprus in the up to 66kg weight
category while Alexandros Manev claimed silver in the up
to 81kg weigh category.
Christodoulos Zeniou who
competed, while suffering aggravated rib pain, in the up
to 100kg weight category shared third place with the
athlete from Luxembourg.
