NICOSIA, 30 May 2009 –
"These Games will not be a minor competition--we have
strived to provide a high level of organisation," said
the President of the Organising Committee of the XIII
Games of the Small States of Europe, Ouranios Ioannides,
addressing the journalists who will staff the Press
Office of CYPRUS 2009.
The journalists, who
will operate the Venue Press Centres providing services
to all accredited members of the media will also
contribute to the official website of the XIII GSSE with
a continuous flow of previews, reviews and news from all
twelve fronts of the Games. They had all gathered at
Olympic House, Friday afternoon, for the final briefing
by Media and Press Director of the Games, Iacovos
Kakouris.
"Yours is a special
mission," added Mr Ioannides, stressing the importance
of the role of the media. "If the Games have no
publicity, they may have not been held, for all the
world knows."
