Officials of the participating countries will have the
opportunity to check the progress made by the Organising
Committee of the XIII Games of the Small States of
Europe CYPRUS 2009, during a two-day series of meetings
and inspection visits, over the weekend.
The
Cyprus Olympic Committee will host the meetings of the
Executive and Technical Commissions at Olympic House in
Nicosia on 13 and 14 June. Just under a year before the
2009 Games, the meetings mark the first essential tests
for the Organising Committe and for Cyprus in general.
The
Executive Committee meeting will include the presidents
and general secretaries of the National Olympic
Committees of the participating countries in the GSSE;
the Techncial Committee meetings will feature the
technical advisors, technical directors and heads of
delegations of each country. A total of 32 delegates
from Iceland, Luxembourg, Monaco, San Marino,
Liechtenstein, Andorra and Malta will be in Cyprus for
the meetings.
According to the official schedule, the Technical
Committee will convene on the morning of Friday 13th
June (09:00-12:00), to work on the technical regulations
and the competition schedule. At the same time, each
delegation will submit the number of entrants for each
event. A joint meeting of the Executive and Technical
Committees will follow at 14:30, with the Organising
Committee presenting its progress report. Any decisions
relating to proposals submitted concerning nearly all
areas of the competition will be made at this time.
The
decisions of the Executive Committee will be announced
by the President of the Organising Committee of the XIII
GSSE CYPRUS 2009, Kikis N. Lazarides, at a Press
Conference scheduled for 16:00.
Following the Press Conference, the delegates will
inspect the Nicosia hotels that will host the
delegations, the members of the Olympic Family, the
judges and referees and the accredited members of the
Press during the XIII GSSE.
The
Organising Committee will host a reception for the
delegates and Cyprus state officials on the evening of
the 13th June.
Visits
to the venues of the XIII GSSE in Nicosia will be made
by all delegates on the morning of Saturday 14th June.
The afternoon schedule includes visits to the venues of
Limassol.
