As the Games of the Small
Nations of Europe went north for the first time, Cyprus put
up an impressive opposition to the host nation's domination
of past editions. Eventually, Iceland remained on the top of
the medals table, but just three gold medals ahead of their
arch rivals--although the Nordic country was almost thirty
medals ahead of Cyprus in the total count.
